ON 11 JULY 1963 SAC ACCEPTED AND DECLARED OPERATIONAL THREE BLUE SCOUT JUNIOR LAUNCH SITES AT WISNER, WEST POINT AND TEKAMAH, NEBRASKATHESE ROCKETS CARRIED A UHF RECORDER WITH A PRERECORDED MESSAGE TO BE TRANSMITTED TO ALL UNITS WITHIN LINE OF SITE OF THE APOGEE OF THE ROCKET'S FLIGHT.  THIS WAS ANOTHER METHOD FOR ENSURING RELIABLE COMMAND CONTROL COMMUNICATIONS.

 

MINUTEMAN EMERGENCY ROCKET COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM REPLACED BLUE SCOUT JUNIOR

ON 10 OCTOBER 1967 THE FIRST EMERGENCY ROCKET COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM (ERCS) INSTALLED ON A MINUTEMAN II ICBM WAS OPERATIONAL AT WHITEMAN AFB, MISSOURI.   ON 1 DECEMBER 1967, THE BLUE SCOUT JUNIOR (ERCS) SITES IN NEBRASKA WERE INACTIVATED
